After being discovered and managed by Ex-Animal Chas Chandler in 1978, Nick was sent on the road supporting the likes of Slade, David Essex and Hot Chocolate. He releases 3 singles including “Rock and Roll Fool”, “All or Nothing”, “(I only Want to be ) Number 1”.

In 1982, Nick forms “The Drivers” with bassist Mac Norman and drummer Steve Boorer. They lease album “Short Cuts” produced by legendary producer Terry Brown & hits the Canadian Top 30 with “Tears On Your Anorak”.

During these cross-Canada tours Nick meets Canadian guitarist Kevin MacMichael and MacMichael flies to UK to form “Cutting Crew” in 1985. The following year they add Colin Farley on bass and Martin “Frosty” Beedle on drums to the band and the original line-up was complete. The band sign with Siren Records in ’86 and releases “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” which would make Number 1 in 19 countries including the USA. Follow-up singles include “Any Colour”,”One For The Mockingbird” & “I’ve Been In Love Before”, which would also crack the Top 10 in the USA. Debut album “Broadcast” is released selling well over 3 million copies worldwide. In 1987, the band are nominated for a Grammy for Best New Act.

From 87-90 the band tour Europe, USA and Asia including sold out dates at The Marquee in London, The Greek Theatre in LA and the world famous Budokan in Toyko.

Crucially and also damagingly, two years away with management reshuffles, the band releases the award winning sophomore album “The Scattering” featuring the singles “(Between A) Rock and A Hard Place”,”Everything But My Pride” & “The Scattering”.

Sadly, Colin and Martin depart, but in 1992 Nick and Kevin release “Compus Mentus” produced by Chris Neil. Then after the night of a thousand knives in the music industry (where countless bands were dumped after corporate record company buy-outs) they decide to call it a day.

After battling with cancer, sadly and impossibly, Kevin MacMichael passes away in 2002.

2004 Nick decides to begin working on new material and releases “Grinning Souls/Capture” in 2005. Then embarks on touring the world alongside numerous musicians including guitarist Gareth Moulton who would not only be key to the band’s sound but also a firm friend and long standing partner in crime to this day. They add Tom Arnold on drums, Sam Flynn on keys and Dom Finley on bass.

In 2015 the gorgeous “Add To Favourites” is released featuring “Till The Money Run$ Out” and “Berlin In Winter”.

In 2020, showcasing a classical re-interpretation of the classic Cutting Crew songs, the album “Ransomed Healed Restored Forgiven” is released.

As of 2021, “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” has been certified by BMI as having been played on American radio over 6 million times and has been used in countless movies including Never Been Kissed, Hot tub Time Machine, Stitches & Lego Batman and TV Shows including Ash Vs Evil Dead & Stranger Things.

36 years ago Nick van Eede formed Cutting Crew, alongside his dear-departed friend, guitarist and writer, Kevin MacMichael; releasing their multi-million selling debut album Broadcast.

Grammy nominated, the Anglo-Canadian band scored worldwide hits including of course, their USA # 1, the timeless, majestic (I Just) Died in Your Arms. The song has earned countless prestigious awards including 6 million radio plays in the USA alone!!

This song eclipses almost anything CC can ever achieve but 15 years of hard touring has kept the brand fresh as a daisy witnessed by inclusion in countless movies and TV shows like, The Lego Batman movie, USA Superbowl programme, Stranger Things!!

On stage, Nick, (fit as a worn fiddle) teams up with stellar and long-time CC guitarist and friend, Gareth Moulton, to continue sharing their anthemic songs with us all.

Along with “Arms” they play universal hits, I’ve Been in Love Before (top ten USA hit) and One for the Mockingbird (top 20 USA hit)
plus some cheeky covers and the coolest songs from their 5 albums.

Recent tours include Australia, Japan, USA, Mexico and Europe where Cutting Crew will win your hearts with their razor sharp musicianship, wit, and strikingly emotional performance.

2021 saw the release of a brand new album, Ransomed, Healed, Restored, Forgiven recorded with The Prague and Slovenia Philharmonia Orchestras of 10 glorious reworks of their timeless songs.
