LATEST NEWS HEADLINES:
So here we go, the news we've all waited for!! Cherry Red Records will re-release the classic million seller album Broadcast (CRPOP48) and the delicious follow-up,
The Scattering (CRPOP49), on May 24th 2010.
Nick has worked hand in hand with Richard Anderson at Cherry Red
and the re-releases are all completely re-mastered and sound absolutely brilliant with all kinds of nuances unheard before (until this digital age) on so many tracks!!!
They both have new artwork, rare photos and sleeve notes with CC stories
and recording trivia written by Nick.
Broadcast boasts hard to find re-mixes of (I Just) Died in Your Arms/Any Colour and One for the Mockingbird which were never included in the European release of Broadcast,
plus the 12" version of (I Just) Died in Your Arms and live tracks from USA and UK tours. The compilation is completed with the sublime original B-side of (I Just) Died in Your Arms, The Longest Time, never before released on anything but the old vinyl 7".
The Scattering includes 3 unheard before demos from the CC archives recorded in that album's sessions during major upheavals and family tragedies. There are also some heart on sleeve conclusions from Nick about the music industry at that time.
You can order at all the major online depots
and of course at this link: Cutting Crew at Cherry Red
Happy to tell you that our MySpace page has been refurbished and looks
great with 7 video clips and 10 songs from all 4 albums!!!
Just click on th MS link at top of page.
Review of Grinning Souls CD from March 2010...better late than ever!
"This collection of songs is both beguiling and reminiscent of an era of the l'album concept.. It is moody, uplifting, funny and definitely from le coeur. It is obvious Van Eede has not gone broke over the years
( financially and songwriting inspiration both) as it was written in Barbados, recorded in Nova Scotia, mixed in Toronto and mixed at Abbey road, London, no less. Not sure if it was worth all those airmiles but I have it on my i-pod and it is always a refreshing interruption when it hits my playlist. Bon Chance Nick!

Nick has made a wonderful new friendship with an Italian singer/writer who is simply a genius of energy and ideas and dedicated musical excellence. Her name is Sandrina Sedona and they have collaborated on the musical piece from the (last Cutting Crew album) Grinning Souls.... "Lauren's Theme"
It is a classical/instrumental piece that Nick wrote as he felt the lyrics for the original "song" were too raw and upsetting to include in a rock album. Sandrina pounced like a cat and translated his original text and has sung the melody in Italian..she arranged and edited and basically breathed so much new life into this gorgeous melody. The track below is only a demo at the moment but the reactions we have received have been so strong that we will try to offer it to one of the crop of new young classical vocal groups/soloists in the world. Wish us luck and thank you Sandrina!!

We think it is one of the most informative, funny and honest reflections on Nick's 30 years in the music business with his stories of his discovery/meeting Kevin MacMichael/ A&R men/recording studios/song-pluggers....Enjoy!!
Nick's daughter Lauren sings her favourite song on YOUTUBE: (a bit of indulgence)
Nick sangin Augsburg (25th October) alongside Bobby Kimball of Toto/Kim Wide/Roger Hodgson of Supertramp. What a dream gig eh? We wil try to get some video footage for upload later on but for now here is a photo of Nick with Bobby and Roger and the fabulous Kim before the show In Germany last month.

It's not often I feel the need to immediately write something on the site but I HAD to say how sad I was to hear of the passing of Rick Wright of Pink Floyd. Every song I ever wrote was influenced by his chords and movements in their arrangements.....a complete master of understatement as Roger and Dave took centre stage he ploughed on with the coolest Hammond tones and all kinds of cutting edge sounds and experiments. I saw the band a few times including the premier of 'Shine on You crazy diamond' at Wembley Arena in Quadrophonic. A true master lost so far too early. Nick van Eede
Find below a photo from Ina of Nick and Gareth on stage in the past summer with Katrina (Katrina and the Waves)

We've just received a photo of Nick in his first ever band US with old pals George Brinkhurst
on Bass and Steve Boorer on Drums. We guess it is circa 1972.....how cool?

Nick has recently signed an endorsement deal with Freshman guitars based in Glasgow.
Sean Kelly has been building a great roster of Freshman players including The Kooks, Sandi Thom and Kelly Clarkson. See the range at: http://www.freshmanguitars.co.uk/

A very special new addition to the site is the introduction of a good pal from USA who was a massive fan of Kevin MacMichael. His name is David Monti and he has designed some guitar picks/plectrums in a beautiful memorium to Kevin. They are made with Kevin's signature/life span and Cutting Crew logo on the item. They are available from him directly and ALL proceeds will go to the Nova Scotia Lung Association. This is a truly generous gift that you may want to donate to. I have one brilliant design and Cadence, Kev's daughter proudly owns one too. We are very happy to promote this worthy cause. He can be contacted at dmonti@rbhs208.org and will take care of all arrangements. Thanks to you Dave and all those who get involved. Nick.
